Warm and pleasant weather for the most of this week. A southwesterly wind has packed brash ice in past Bonaparte point. The British twin otter VP-FAW landed on December 3 and took off on the morning of December 4. Three pax spent the night at the station.
Joe Parr repaired and improved the aircraft beacon so that it's range is now reported at 200 nautical miles.
One of the saltwater submersible pumps broke off it's mounting. George Fiztsimmons and Rufus Zogbaum recovered the pump and accomplished repairs.
The fresh water pond is now producing plenty of water but it as discovered that approximately 25 gallons of mo-gas leaked from a rusty drum into the pond.
A damaged drum of 9170 also leaked at a spot behind the bio-building. in both cases remedial action was taken and the oil was scooped and sopped up to prevent any ecological harm.
All fire extinguishers were inspected.
The frozen mooring lines are completely dug out.
At the time of this writing, a mechanical knock in generator nr1 was cured by the power plant mechanic and assistants. All lifters and push rods, etc were necessarily replaced.
Spit and polish continues as await our replacements. Routine maintenance and operations continued.
